Eunice Boardman received her BA from Cornell in 1947, MA from Columbia University in 1951, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1964.

Boardman taught general and choral music in K-12, as well as teacher education courses at Northern Illinois University, the University of Wichita, and the University of Wisconsin. Her tenure at the University of Illinois of began in 1988, where she was the chair of the Graduate Committee for Music Education. She was involved with the Institute of Logopedics for handicapped students (Wichita), and the Contemporary Music Project with Milton Babbit. She has co-authored Exploring Music, The Music Book and Holt Music.

Boardman has been appointed to several state, regional and national committees of MENC. These include Chair of the Society for Music Teacher Education, and Chair of the Early Childhood Committee which was part of MENC's project GO. Boardman has also participated in curriculum development and served as clinician and visiting lecturer in a host of states.
