Brown, Jonathan (1997).  Improving the Learning Curve: Using MIDI, Sequencers, and Synthesizers to Broadcast Choral Parts in Rehearsal.  Choral Journal (37), 9, 31-32.
Very interesting concept of putting choral music into MIDI sequencer program, then broadcasting to FM channels.  Singers listen to parts through Walkman radioes, at home (via cassette tape) or in rehearsal through FM transmission.  Author feels this makes music more accessible, thereby building program and musical interest.

Feiszli, James (1998).  Technology for the Choral Director.  Choral Journal (39) 2, 37-38.
Describes website ChoralNet, which is intended to be the main online site for choral musicians.  Includes description of site features, history of its development, recent developments, and future goals (including international conversion).  As of this article, the website averages over 3000 visitors per day.

Fenton, Kevin (1997). Using Multimedia Technology in the Choral Rehearsal.  Choral   Journal (37) 9,  17-19.
Improving musicianship and developing artistic awareness in beginning and advanced choirs.  Fictional choral rehearsals are described with order of lesson, titles of music, musical concepts, and verbal descriptions used by teacher.  Examples of computer screen show how musical concepts are visually programmed.  Article is excellent example of making technology work as sophisticated tool to improve and enhance rehearsal.  Should be very helpful for teachers who don’t have concept of how technology can make teaching more productive.

Fenton, Kevin (1998).  Using Multimedia to Develop Musicianship.  Music Educators Journal (85)  2, 27-32.
Using multimedia to introduce and prepare choral music can help students with musical understanding and make musical decisions.  Presentations that integrate aural & visual offer new opportunities.

Henderson, Allen & Ted Jones (1997).  Using Video Teleconferencing to Enhance the Teaching of Conducting. Choral Journal (37) 7, 21-24.
Brief discussion of video teleconferencing, followed by a description of a research study to investigate teaching of conducting to three university classes.  Response & possibilities were generally favorable.

Oglesby, Donald (1997).  Technology for the Choral Director:  A New Choral Journal Column.  Choral Journal (38) 5, 27.
Introduces this new column, so there is not a great deal of information.  A set-in column giving website links makes this a good starting point.

Oglesby, Donald, ed. (1998).  Technology for the Choral Director:  The World Wide Web: Composer Information. Choral Journal (38) 7, 47-50.
Rich source of links for composer information, including contemporary composers.  Helpful info on using search engines & citing web sources (not including standardization at this writing).  Links & sites appropriate for elementary level may take some hunting, as these sites include musicological & university sources.

Oglesby, Donald (1998).  Technology for the Choral Director: Creating a Website: A Basic Guide.  Choral Journal (39) 5, 67.
Tips on how to create a website using Netscape Composer.  Simple guide for the technical aspects, "how-to's."  Does not deal with content of website or how to incorporate sound clips.

Powell, Steven (1997) Rehearsal Breaks: Manuscript to Printed Octavo--How the Pros Do It.  Choral Journal (38) 4, 37-39.
Gives engraver's procedures for setting up octavo score in notation programs, allowing for unique needs of choral music.  Includes size, spacing, stem heights, accomodating voice layers of divisi passages, hyphenating text, font sizes, articulation markings, fine tuning manuscript.  Readibility of score will lead to smooth rehearsals!  Could be a course just in choral notation!

Sebald, David (1997).  Web Your Program: An Internet Primer for Music Educators.  Choral Journal (37) 9, 9-14.
Basic how-to includes brief history of Internet, reasons to use WWW, hardware & software for getting started.  Figure of a high school choir web site is great example for showing possibilities.
